STATEMENT

vision: When I look into nature, something looks back at me. That something is the subject of my work.

techniques & materials: I paint with egg tempera (egg yolk mixed with water and pigment) because it's so hands-on, and creates opportunities to explore the intrinsic qualities of natural earths, minerals, and metal leaf in my paintings.

working process: I work with complex layers of paint that suggest primal forms and woven patterning, juxtaposed with areas of densely pigmented texture suggestive of post-Big Bang chaos.

painting issues: silence, stillness, creating a space for reverie.
